Albania presents new series

The Banka e Shqiperise (Bank of Albania) has presented its new banknote series. The new notes look like the existing notes but with a refreshed design and of course updated security features. The new 200-lek note will be made of polymer. 

The schedule for introduction of the new notes is as follows:

  • 200 lek and 5,000 lek: from 30 September 2019
  • 10,000 lek and 1,000 lek: from 2020
  • 2,000 lek from 2021
  • 500 lek from 2022
